David Rowe is an independent product and furniture designer with over 30 years of experience in research-led design work. He has a number of designs currently in production, including the SE Chair Range (‘Classic’ and ‘Curve’) of school seating designed jointly with Richard Snell for Hille.
Seating design with a particular emphasis on postural quality has been a feature of his work in contract furniture. This is based on the belief that good posture benefits physical and psychological well-being, and has been applied to seating for schools, the elderly, meeting rooms and for performing musicians.
David Rowe is a graduate of the Royal College of Art, and he was for eight years the principal designer for furniture and interiors for the Lancashire County Architect. He was a tutor at Birmingham City University where he was for six years course leader in Furniture Design. He has lectured on design internationally.
